Women in conflict areas are not solely victims of the omnipresent violence; they are also strong actors that work  for peace and democratic reconstruction worldwide. The three winners of the 2011 Nobel Peace prize represent thousands of other women that fight for peaceful societies and equal opportunities for women and men. 39 Dutch organizations, among which the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Education, Culture & Science, knowledge institutions, women's and peace movements as well as migrant and development organizations, are joining their efforts  to support these determined, inventive, courageous women. The plans to promote female leadership in (post) conflict areas and transition countries are laid down in the Dutch  National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (NAP 1325). This NAP 1325 will be launched and signed by all Dutch NAP partners during a special event on Monday 19 December. You are very welcome to attend!
