The side event is one of the first to address how to reduce the harmful impact of imprisonment on women from a global perspective. It will highlight not only the link between poverty and the scale of the problem but also innovative solutions that Member States can adopt. The side event, Promising Practices to Reduce the Harmful Impact of Imprisonment on Women, will provide innovative solutions and recommendations to reduce the harmful impact of imprisonment on women.

PRI will also launch their global report on laws and practices that criminalise women due to poverty and status. The report has already been featured in The Guardian.
