The Mukwege Foundation (MF) and the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of The Netherlands to the United Nations are pleased to invite you to a CSW70 side event entitled “Justice for Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence: Advancing Implementation Through Survivor-Led Advocacy”. The event is co-sponsored by SEMA, the Global Network of CRSV Survivors, and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations (TBC).
You may have already received an invitation to another event co-hosted by the Mukwege Foundation on 10 March; however, please note that this is a separate event focusing specifically on the gap between legal commitments and their implementation, and we would be delighted to welcome you - or a representative of your organisation - to attend either or both sessions.
This side event will explore how to bridge the persistent gap between States’ legal obligations on conflict-related sexual violence and the reality survivors face in accessing justice. Centering survivor voices, the discussion will highlight how timely and meaningful survivor engagement can make justice processes more effective, inclusive, and responsive to survivors’ needs. Drawing on experiences from Nepal, Ukraine, and the Rohingya context, as well as the work of the Global Network of Victims and Survivors to End Wartime Sexual Violence (SEMA), the event will share lessons learned and practical recommendations for States to implement their obligations in a truly survivor-centred way. Further details on the objectives, speakers, and agenda are available in the concept note.
If you are unable to attend, we would be pleased to welcome another representative from your organisation in your place.
