Lunch meeting with Colombian peacebuilder and women rights defender Nancy Sánchez

Join us for a lunch session where Nancy Sánchez will share her powerful journey of defending human rights in Colombia, even through the most challenging conflicts. Nancy is is a journalist and human rights defender working on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, women’s rights and countering sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
 
From the regions of Magdalena Medio to Putumayo, she will offer insights into her work and experiences, highlighting the resilience needed to protect communities, especially women, amid violence. Nancy will also explore the critical need for rebuilding Colombia’s social fabric and striving for lasting peace.

For more than 25 years she has dedicated her life to protect human rights and human rights defenders, drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis and conflict in the region of Putumayo through international advocacy and assisting in legal cases of human rights violations. The organisation supports more than 50 women-led organisations, as well as indigenous and farmer communities in Putumayo. She is currently in the Netherlands as part of the Shelter City Programme.
