Sexual And Gender Based Violence: Helping Refugee Women

One in five women with a refugee background experiences sexual or gender-based violence. Without appropriate help, women can suffer the consequences of sexual and gender-based violence for a long time, physically, mentally and socially. It is therefore important that they are aware of what sexual and gender-based violence is, what the consequences may be and that they can get appropriate help.

Voice of All Women has developed a method for discussing sexual and gender-based violence among women with a refugee background. Together with Pharos they have laid down the methodology in a manual. On 24 May Voice of All Women and Pharos will present the methodology and the manual. The conference will be led by Shantie Jagmohansingh, Senior Policy Advisor Domestic/Sexual Violence; Municipality of Rotterdam.
