WPS side-event: 'Communities at the core: Localising the women and peace and security agenda to ensure meaningful and diverse women's participation'
Date: Friday 27 October 2023
Time: 2pm - 3:30pm
Location: The Japan Society, 333 East 47th Street, New York City
Localisation is essential in securing meaningful and intersectional participation of women in the WPS Agenda and peacebuilding, humanitarian and development. Community-led responses enable context-specific interventions that can identify context-specific drivers and ensure responses are sustainable and locally led. However, in practice, localisation can often be tokenistic.
This event will bring together diverse WPS-actors to discuss best practices and lessons learned in localising WPS through NAPS and beyond, with speakers from Colombia, Uganda, Myanmar, and UN Women reflecting on their experiences and recommendations.
To attend, please RSVP to info@gaps-uk.org by Wednesday 25 October.
