Release Peace - the Magazine, reports on international affairs: The goal of the magazine is to shed light on underreported stories and bring minority voices to the attention of our readership. Gender mainstreaming is important in their editorial approach. This article is a collaboration between Release Peace and the Peace Research Institute of Frankfurt, and covers the role of women soldiers, almost a quarter of the Ukrainian armed forces. It describes the 2018 law which stated equal rights and opportunities for women in the military, contributing to gender mainstreaming. It also covers women’s role as first responders and the impact the violence has on women and girls in the Ukraine context.
