Gender Concerns International will observe Legislative Elections in Morocco

Following an invitation from Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Gender Concerns International will deploy a Gender Election Observation Mission (GEOM) to observe the country’s legislative elections on 23 September 2026. Led by a team of international women experts, the mission will observe the elections from a gender perspective, including women's electoral participation as voters and canditates, and their role and position within the Election Management Bodies.

The observation mission will also examine progress made since the 2021 elections in advancing women’s political representation and gender equality. Notably, these elections feature the largest number of women candidates in Morocco’s history, marking an important milestone for women’s political participation in the country.
