We are excited to invite you to participate in a brief survey that will help design the most effective format for the upcoming hybrid forum on the development of the Principles on Gender Persecution. The survey is for The Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice.
Gender Persecution: Progress and Challenges
Although gender persecution has been recognized as a crime against humanity in the Rome Statute for over two decades, it remains inadequately addressed. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has only recently begun pursuing charges, with its first-ever judgment on gender persecution in the Al Hassan case revealing a lack of clear understanding, leading to an acquittal for this charge.
The new Principles on Gender Persecution being developed by the ICC aim to cement these advances, ensuring a more comprehensive and survivor-focused global response to gender-based crimes. These principles will also explore ways to prevent these crimes, protect those at risk, and bring underrepresented voices into the conversation.
By completing this short survey (~5 minutes), you will:
-
Contribute to the development of inclusive principles that address the prevention, protection, participation, and recovery of survivors of gender persecution.
-
Help shape the format and agenda of our upcoming hybrid forum, making it accessible and impactful for all participants.
-
Play a role in the global movement toward better accountability for gender-based crimes, ensuring these crimes are properly understood and prosecuted.
