Tearfund’s vision is to see people freed from poverty and injustice, living transformed lives and fully flourishing. Our work focuses both on longer term community development as well as shorter term humanitarian responses. We work with partner organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America and engage and mobilise the local church where possible. In the Netherlands, we are committed to raising awareness about social justice and climate change. Our funding base is diverse, and our institutional funding portfolio is expanding.

Description of your main WPS related activities

The core of our WPS efforts related to preventing and addressing sexual and gender based through engaging men, mobilising faith leaders and communities and building bottom up community based prevention and response structures that reduce and address violence against women. Engaging men and engaging faithleaders and other key influencers in the communities is central to our approach. Via the training of local leaders, gender champions, community actcion groups and community dialogues, we facilitate gender norms transformation processes that result in reduced levels of violence and increased support for survivors.

Their rights are safeguarded and enforceable, 4. Relief, reconstruction and recovery - Meet the needs and contribute to the empowerment of women and girls

The programmatic investments of Tearfund up until 2025 will include: * Transforming Masculinities Programming in among others DRC and South Sudan: community based gender interventions transforming harmful gender norms to reduce SGBV + establishing a community based support and referral structure for survivors of SGBV (DRC, South Sudan). Sometimes combined with humanitarian relief interventions. * JISRA interfaith peacebuilding programma: gender inclusive peacebuilding and conflict prevention programming aimed at preventing violent conflict and building inclusive (gender, youth, religious minorities) peaceful communities. (Iraq, Mali, Ethiopia, Nigeria)
